Don Vosseller Obituary

Don Vosseller (Eldon Richard Vosseller, Jr) passed away on July 12 ,2024. He is predeceased by his parents (Irene and Eldon Richard Vosseller, Sr.).




Don enlisted in the Navy in 1955 and served during the Korean conflict. After his discharge, he dedicated his life to being a lifelong educator, serving as a public school teacher for elementary and middle school students in Watchung, NJ., until his retirement, He also served as an instructor in the Civil Air Patrol (US Air Force Auxiliary) Cadet Program.




Ranked as a Lieutenant Colonel he instructed in airplanes and gliders, and held the title of Command Pilot and Search and Rescue Mission Pilot. Many of Don's students went on to pursue military careers or became commercial airline pilots.




Don is survived by his long-term partner Sandra, his son David (Allegra) as well as grandsons Nathan and Matthew. He leaves behind brothers Ken (Janet)and Bob (Sherry) and their children. Also surviving are Sandra's brother and sister in law, Shaya (Catherine).




A funeral service will be held on Wednesday,July 24th at Gallaway and Crane funeral home located at 101 South Finley Avenue Basking Ridge New Jersey from 10 AM to noon. Following the service there will be a repast from 12:30 PM to 3 PM at The Grain House.




Don Vosseller's legacy as an educator, volunteer and flight instructor lives on in all the people he taught, and taught to fly. May he rest in peace.
