Victor A Bergwall Obituary

Victor A. Bergwall, 90, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Victor attended Snyder High School and graduated from Saint Peter's College in 1953.

He then joined his beloved Marine Corps in 1954 where he was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant. He was a marksman with the pistol and rifle, and a member of the Color Guard. Despite being offered the commission of Captain to stay in the Corps, he pivoted to the business sector where he attended the NCR training program and then secured a highly regarded sales position with Inland Steel Container Corp. He later became National Sales Director for Van Leer Packaging, an international packaging firm.

In 1958, Victor met his dear wife, Patricia (Berggren) at the Parker House in Sea Girt, New Jersey. They married in 1960 and raised their four children in North Caldwell for 30 years before moving to Far Hills, where they have resided for the last 21 years.

Victor was a member of the Spring Lake Golf Club and a former member of the Essex Fells Country Club where he loved to play golf and gather for dinner with his family and friends.

Undeniably, his Spring Lake shore house was his favorite place, as it is the hub of beautiful and enduring family traditions. He enjoyed "endless" summers there and loved to sit on the front porch and swim with his family in the South End salt water pool. His four children and his eight grandchildren, whom he adored, are his greatest legacy.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Patricia, and his four children: Victor ("Chip") Bergwall and his wife AnnMarie (Neary), Tracey Bergwall-Seebode and her husband Christopher, Thomas Bergwall and his wife Antoinette (Foti), and Kristen Bergwall-Doherty and her husband Robert. He will be missed dearly by his eight grandchildren: Julia and Christopher Seebode, Ryan, Daniel, and Matthew Bergwall, and Paige, Maeve, and Delia Doherty. He leaves behind his two beloved sisters Anita Dugan of Avon-by-the-Sea and Cynthia Moran of New Vernon, and his predeceased sister, Sheila Byrne.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home located at 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, New Jersey. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 17 2024, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church located at 16 Blue Mill Road, New Vernon, New Jersey.
