Obituary of Leo T. Purcell
Leo “Lee” Purcell, aged 88 of Morristown, NJ passed away on May 12th 2024. Leo was raised in Wayne, NJ.
Lee and his brother Fenton Purcell owned and operated Lee T Purcell Associates Consulting Engineers for over 50 years. The firm provided design and construction period services to many Authorities and Municipalities in the development of their water and wastewater infrastructure in the states of New Jersey and New York.
Lee was also on active duty in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corp for over 39 months. During his tour of duty, he received the U.S. Army Commendation Medal for his work as Post Sanitary Engineer at Fort Chaffee Arkansas in 1962.
Lee is survived by his son Leo III and his wife Gail, grandson Tyler, daughter Cynthia Purcell-Mauro, and her husband Ed, brother Fenton, his wife Sue, sister Mary Lou, her husband Jim Smith, as well as nieces and nephews Dean, Colleen, Chari, Suzanne, Aimee, Suzie, Jackie, Jim and Emmet. Leo was predeceased by his beloved wife Rosemary of 54 years, his brother William, sister Dolores Dobbs, and sister Margaret May.
Funeral mass and burial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or Morristown Minute Men EMS.
