Joseph Michael Vag, 76, of Basking Ridge, passed away on May 6, 2024.

He was born on December 22, 1947, to Michael and Sophia Vag in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Joseph was the devoted husband of Linda Vag, father of Anne Vag Halbing, and brother of Michael Vag. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Joseph attended Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1969 and a Master’s degree in human resource management in 1995. He was employed by Public Service Electric and Gas, where he enjoyed a successful career working in electric generation and human resources.

Throughout Joe’s life, he enjoyed cooking, traveling with his beloved wife, telling stories, gathering with family, and spending time outdoors or in his workshop. Joe’s family and friends appreciated his kindness, support, and calm demeanor. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 9th, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, May 10th, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Saint James, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
