Monsignor Capik was the best priest I ever knew. He was kind, compassionate, funny, highly intelligent, holy, and brave. I shall miss him terribly.

Msr was a friend. As GK of our KofC council, he educated me about right to life beyond the delivery of a child. He guided our council to many meaningful and well placed donations to worthy causes.
His leadership when we added to St James a new church taught me what true Christian patience is.
My best wishes to all who knew and miss him. My memories of our time together is part of the Christian walk I continue.

We used to play basketball with him in the gym after dinner. I have great respect for the man. I was there from 1966-1970.
He was tough, but always fair. My brother would not have been tossed, if he was the principle past 1972.

I was at Notre Dame High School from ‘60-‘64. Father Capik was a kind, humble, full of fun priest. He helped me discern my vocation and when I entered the convent he came to the Mount to visit me. I owe him a great deal. I left the convent in 1967 and wrote to him. He helped me with that.

Condolences to the family. Father Capik did great things for HCHS, as a principal, leader, friend and counselor . He left a lasting imprint on the hearts and souls of many of the students he came in which he came in contact. RIP

Condolences to the family. I was a student at Notre Dame High school starting December 1959. I really enjoyed Msgr Capick’s class when I had him for religion one year. Rest in peace and thank you for some great memories of ND

Monsignor Capik was the second Principal at Holy Cross High School while I was a student there. Father Capik was an incredibly kind and incredibly capable principal. He was the Gold Standard for school administrators. I still have my HCHS year books, and I was always honored to have him sign them.
Whenever fellow alumni reminisce we all have nothing but the very best stories to tell. May flights of angels sing him to his rest.

I remember Monsignor Capik when I spent 4 years at Notre Dame High School (1959-1963). He was always an athletic man, full of a quick wit always seemed to understand all. His teaching of the MARRIAGE COURSE in my senior year was the highlight of that year for me. I also remember him as The Masked Marvel in a faculty vs Varsity Basketball game ... and the first time we won the State Soccer Championship. Father Capik was the driver of the ND BUS. When we returned from the game that day, (against St. Cecelia) he suggested we walk into the gym with a glum expression on our faces as if we had lost. It was the Varsity Basketball Team practicing at that time, and Coach Creamer said he guessed we had lost ... that was when we burst into celebration ... such was his way. He will be missed.

The Flannerys send their condolences to the Capik family. Our mom Mary had a very special bond with Monsignor. They spoke often and visited as often as possible. He’s making heaven that much brighter. Peace to all.

Heartfelt condolences to the family of Monsignor Capik. I remember him for his stewardship of the committee to build the new church at St James. He was also very generous during my family's transition from Canada to New Jersey. His kind heart, wit, efficiency, and deep faith will always be remembered. No job was too small for him and nothing escaped his attention to detail. May he rest in peace. With sympathy, the Hunter family

Msgr. Capik was a dear man and remained devout until the end. Although confused, he remembered he was a priest and used his Roman missal daily. On a few occasions his first year here in The Village at Incarnate Word, we were able to have him actively concelebrate Mass with our chaplain and he glowed with joy. He remained devoted to the rosary and would remind the staff that it was “time” for the rosary if they didn’t get started on time. I’m so glad for the opportunity to have gotten to know him – even in his diminished state. I know he must have been a tremendous priest and pastor in his younger years.
May he rest in God’s eternal love and peace.

Requiescat in pace, Msgr. Capik! A wonderful man and beloved priest. Taught our family how to ski. Got to know him during his stay in Notre Dame High School and St. Michael’s Parish.

Monsignor Capik was instrumental in founding Bethel Ridge, a non profit agency, supporting people with Special Needs. He procured the land on which it's built from the Metuchen Diocese and was a life time advocate for this population. Always referring to them as special angels, he was truly loved by our residents, staff and the Board. We are eternally grateful for his unwavering support and his legacy will live on.

Heartfelt condolences to Richie, his family and all who Msgr. has touched. As a child growing up in Perth Amboy we (the Mazur s) looked forward to Willie coming home for summer vacation and holidays( Christmas eve dinner at the Capik's was a long held tradition). After ordination the family would visit Father Bill wherever he was preaching. And then Msgr. was to be presiding at family weddings, baptisms and funerals. We thank him for being with us and for all he has done for all God's people. Cousin Marian Mazur Kovacs
