Obituary of Peter David Quinn

Peter David Quinn, Retired Attorney and Former New Vernon Resident

Peter David Quinn, 67, a retired attorney, died on January 24^th at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia from complications resulting from cardiac surgery.

Quinn spent much of his career representing clients in Philadelphia’s juvenile court system and low-income clients with a wide range of legal problems through Philadelphia’s Community Legal Services office. He was a long-time resident of the Torresdale neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia.

He grew up in Summit and New Vernon, New Jersey, before moving to Philadelphia to attend high school, college and law school. 

He graduated from the Devereux Hall Manor High School with honors and then cum laude from Villanova University in 1978 before earning a law degree from  Temple University in 1982.

He worked for a time as an attorney for SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) before starting his career in private practice.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary Quinn. He is survived by his brother, William Quinn, of Hoboken, his sister, Maryann Quinn, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and his brother, John Quinn and sister-in-law Marguerite Quinn, and his nephews Michael and Stephen Quinn and his niece, Kathleen Quinn, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He is also survived by several cousins including Mary Hilscher of Spring Lake Heights, and Joseph L. Foster of Brielle. 

Visitation will be held for him at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 16 Blue Mill Road, New Vernon, NJ.
