Obituary of Aileen Edwards
AILEEN ELSPETH EDWARDS, 79, of Morristown, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 20that her home. Aileen was born in Glasgow, Scotland to George and Maisie Robertson on January 21, 1944.
Aileen was a student at Beckenham Grammer School for Girls and graduated from Ravensbourne College of Art and Design in London. It is at this time that she met and married Lionel Edwards who she was married to for 59 years until her death. Aileen was a talented dress designer and while she and Lionel were living the social scene in London during the 1960s, Aileen kept busy designing dresses for Liberty of London-her designs are still incredibly in style today.
In 1976, Aileen and Lionel and their two sons, Justin and Marcus, relocated to the United States. They lived in Kalamazoo, MI, Libertyville, IL, Coconut Grove, FL, Basking Ridge, NJ before their final residency in Morristown, NJ. Her homes were incredibly decorated as Aileen was a brilliant interior designer and even ran her own business, Aileen Edwards Interiors.
Aileen loved to travel the world, fancy hotels and fine dining and would occasionally treat herself to a McDonald’s Big Mac! She had a flair for the fancier things in life. She loved gorgeous fabrics, shoes, handbags and jewelry. She often wore these while making her amazing homemade Mac & Cheese, Roast Beef with Yorkshire pudding or teaching her grandchildren how to make meringues and other fancy desserts.
The true gems of her life were her 4 children and 8 grandchildren- Dearly loved by her sons Justin, Marcus (Anne), Alexis (Amy) and daughter Victoria (Joe Lepore) and forever loved by her grandchildren Chad, Kyle, Trey, Gian, Paige, Piper, Joey and Pierce. She is preceded in death by her father, mother and daughter Victoria.
Light will shine a little dimmer for the Edwards Clan with our dear Queen Mum gone but never forgotten. She brought so much joy to everyone she knew, and we will carry that sparkle on in her memory.
A burial service will be held at Somerset Hills Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Basking Ridge, NJ on Thursday, December 28th at 1:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life honoring Aileen will be held later this Spring.
