Obituary of Barbara Longo

Barbara J. Longo, 61, of Bernardsville, loving wife and mother of three, passed away peacefully at her home during the afternoon of Monday, October 29th. She was born in Evanston, IL to the late Dr. Gene and Marguerite Zaino and grew up in North Plainfield and Scotch Plains, NJ. Barbara graduated from Drew University in 1972 with a degree in economics and dedicated herself to supporting and caring for her husband and three sons, while providing friendship to many. She also enjoyed a successful career at Prudential Financial, where she was employed for 16 years. However, Barbara will best be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who always put her family before herself, giving her unyielding love and passion to enable their success. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Edward Longo; three sons: Michael Longo of Miami, FL, Christopher Longo and his fianc Meghan Ackerman of Hoboken, NJ, and Matthew Longo of Arlington, VA; and two brothers: William Zaino and his wife Linda of Flemington, NJ and Dr. Richard Zaino and his wife Sally of Hummelstown, PA. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, NJ on Friday November 16, 2012 from 5 to 7pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10:30am at the Church of Christ the King, 16 Blue Mill Rd., New Vernon, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Barbara J. Longo to the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org) or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital ( www.stjude.org).
