Obituary of Elaine Carpenter

Elaine Carpenter, 74, of Bernardsville, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

She was born on April 4, 1949, in Newark, NJ, to Kenneth and Mary Firestine and was raised in New Providence, NJ. She called Bernardsville her home for the past 48 years.

Elaine Carpenter was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and cherished family member. She bravely battled cancer for more than a year. She was surrounded by her husband and daughters as she peacefully passed in her sleep.

Elaine and Dexter celebrated 54 years of marriage this past September. They loved each other so deeply; a love that was shared with their children and grandchildren. Their favorite moments in life were being together at their beach cottage in Ocean Beach III, NJ.  They were always together and they loved watching their family grow.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Dexter Carpenter, her two daughters Dawn Borchert and Tara Carpenter, and later welcomed her son-in-law, John Borchert Jr. and her four beloved grandchildren, Zachary Borchert, Evan Borchert, Ashlyn Flora and Holden Flora.

Elaine was predeceased in passing by her parents and brother, Kenneth Firestine Jr..

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church or Liberty Corner Fire Company, of which her son-in-law and two grandsons are members.

The family expresses gratitude to all who have offered support during this difficult time. Elaine will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love she shared with those whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 4 to 7 pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge. The Funeral will be on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 11 am at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, followed by interment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge.
