Michael J. Colonna, 81, of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away on Monday, July 2, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center. Michael was born on May 18, 1942 in Youngstown, OH. He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1960, and attended Youngstown State University from 1960-1964 and received his bachelor's degree. He furthered his studies and received his MBA from Xavier University.

Michael began his career at Richmond Brothers, then Jones and Laughlin Steel for 7 years, before working at Sandvik for 14 years and became Vice President of JB&S Lees from 1986 until his retirement in 2007.

He was an avid golfer, and a member of Spring Brook Country Club, Morristown where he got a hole in one August 4, 1991. Michael enjoyed various activities: cards, bike riding, billiards, bowling, and poker. In his free time he loved spending time with his family on nature walks, fishing, crabbing, and birdwatching.

The Colonna family would like to thank the Geriatric Assessment Center and the Hospice team at Morristown Medical Center for taking such good care of Michael.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Jeanne Marie Petrarca of 59 years, they were high school sweethearts. He is also survived by his children Kim Elander and husband Craig, Todd Colonna and wife Kathi. Four grandchildren Katie, Matthew, Madison, and Michaela.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, 10:00am at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
