Obituary of J. Michael Traynor

J. Michael Traynor, better known as Mike, age 70, passed away on June 9, 2023, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington. Born in Summit, New Jersey, to the late James B. Traynor and Barbara Stollery, Mike resided in Basking Ridge, N.J., throughout his childhood and most of his adult life before moving to Whitehouse Station, N.J., in 2011.

Prior to his retirement in late 2022, Mike worked in production and product management at C.R. Bard, Centercore, Aeroflex KDI Inc. and Taylor Forge Stainless Inc.

Mike enjoyed playing wallyball, volleyball and softball during his younger years then, took up hiking and traveling later in life. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, playing board games, baking and cooking. Mike loved nature and gardening, and, with his “green thumb”, his plants always thrived. He was a loving husband and terrific father.

Mike is survived by his wife Martha Traynor; daughter, Nicol Starkes and husband Kevin Starkes; son, Christopher Traynor and wife Kalley Traynor. Also surviving are his sisters Leonora Tyrone and her husband David Tyrone, and Cynthia Shoemaker.

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 15th, at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ.
