Obituary of Joyce M Keany

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother Joyce Marie Keany, age 80, who left us peacefully in her sleep on May 19, 2023. She was born September 23, 1942,in Brooklyn Burrough, NY to Herman and Abbie (Behrens) Spuler.After graduation from high school, she began her career at 195 Broadway Corporation, part of the AT&T company, where she met the love of her life, Patrick James Keany and married on May 19, 1962.

In 1972, she and her husband left NYC and relocated to Basking Ridge to raise their 2 children and were active in the St. James parish and community. While raising her family, Joyce worked for many years at the Corner Cupboard restaurant and then at Beneficial Insurance.

Joyce’s passion was to love and care for people and lit up a room with her contagious smile, pleasant cheer, heart of goodwill and infectious laughter. She thoroughly enjoyed her crafting classes with her very dear friends and creating a warm, supportive, loving home. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren, who she adored. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Joyce is survived by daughter, Eileen (Tom) Barry of Columbus, OH; son Kevin (Hope) Keany of Basking Ridge, NJ; grandchildren Shaun, Matthew, Ellery and Colin; brother Ed (Connie) Spuler of Flemington, NJ; brother Allen of Naples, FL; sister June Rivard of Sarasota, FL;

Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Abbie and Herman and husband, Pat. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce Keany’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
