Obituary of Joyce E Boyer

JOYCE ELAINE BOYER, 91, of Basking Ridge, NJ, passed away on February 12, 2023 in
Morristown, NJ. Visitation will be at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue,
Basking Ridge, NJ, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 3-5pm, followed by a funeral service at
5 pm. Joyce was born on July 28, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to parents Douglas and Ivy Ris. Joyce
worked for several years at the McGregor clothing factory in Dover, NJ, then had a long career
in retail sales, including at Kmart, as a manager at Jamesway, and finished her career until
retiring from BJ’s Wholesale. She enjoyed acquiring hummingbird collectibles, watching NY
Mets baseball, and classic movies and musicals. Joyce was a devout member of the Kingdom
Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Gillette, NJ, and a resident of Ridge Oak Senior Housing in
Basking Ridge for fourteen years. Joyce is survived by her daughter April E. Hall (Daniel E. Hall
Sr.) of Manchester, PA, son Kirk D. Boyer (David MacGregor) of Basking Ridge, NJ, four
grandchildren (Daniel Hall, Michael Hall, Laura Orson, and Katlyn Hall), nine great grandchildren
and two great great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Douglas and
Ivy Ris, her former husband of twenty-four years Russell D. Boyer Sr., as well as six brothers
and four sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart
Association.
