Obituary of Vincent S Catrini
Vincent S. Catrini, age 87, of Bridgewater NJ, formerly of Morristown and Sea Girt. Vincent S. Catrini passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
Vincent was born in New York, NY in August 1935. He attended the School of Industrial Art high school and, upon graduation, enlisted in the US Army. He served for three years during the Korean War and was a Corporal stationed in Occupied Germany from 1953-1956. Upon his return, Vincent served in the
US Army Reserve through 1961. For his service, Vincent was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Vincent began his career at Bell Labs on West Street in Manhattan, while pursuing a B.S. in Business Administration from St. John’s University, graduating in 1961. It was at a Valentine’s Day dance at the university in 1957 where he met the love of his life, Ann. By the end of the year, they were engaged
and, in August 1958, they were married at St. Ephrem’s Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Five years later, Vincent and Ann were transferred to Bell Labs in Holmdel, NJ, moving to their first house in Jackson, NJ. They welcomed two daughters during this time. Two years later, the family of four moved to Morristown, where Vincent’s career with AT&T allowed him opportunities to advance in leading large and varied functions, including accounting, technical administration, and facilities management.
Retiring after 38 years, Vincent and Ann realized their dream of living at the shore in Sea Girt, NJ. Vincent was an amazing husband and father who doted on his “three queens” - Ann, Elizabeth & Victoria. He was happiest sharing time with his family and friends. Summers were spent swimming in the pool, barbecuing and hosting an annual family get-together. He enjoyed playing tennis with his friends and doubles with Ann. Vincent took great pride in watching his grandsons’ sporting events and band concerts and enjoyed catching up with his granddaughters when visiting. Vincent volunteered at Sunrise Senior Living in Basking Ridge, NJ for five years until the pandemic. One of his favorite pastimes was “walking the boards” at the shore. Vincent was a huge fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants. He also enjoyed Dunkin Donuts coffee and laughing hysterically through every episode of Seinfeld.
Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Charles Catrini, who immigrated to the United States from Italy. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ann B. Catrini, his brother-in-law Jack J. Confusione, and sister & brother-in-law Santina & Vincent (Jimmy) Gangi. Vincent is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Catrini and her husband James Gallombardo, and Victoria Lufburrow and her husband Mark, and grandchildren Daniel and Matthew Lufburrow, Alyssa Garrie and her husband Ross, and Amanda Gallombardo. He is also survived by his loving sister, Angela Confusione, nephews Jack V. Confusione and wife Dena, and Vincent Gangi and wife Colleen, 2 sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation on Thursday, February 16 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 17 at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Church, 34 Peapack Rd., Far Hills, NJ. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations, in Vincent’s name, to the Alzheimer & Association or St.
Jude Children & Research Hospital.
