Obituary of John F Sullivan

John F. Sullivan, 85, of the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Morristown Medical Center. Born in New York City, NY on January 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Jeremiah and Mary Sullivan. He grew up in Bronx, NY and settled in Basking Ridge 40 years ago. John was a World War II Navy veteran and a long-time parishioner at St. James Church in Basking Ridge. John earned a BS degree in electrical engineering from Manhattan College and an MBA from New York University. His career progressed through varied work experiences, including many years at American Standard, where he rose to the position of Vice-President of Marketing. He switched careers later in life, becoming a successful real estate agent with Weichert Realtors in Bernardsville. John will be best remembered as a hard-working, kind and generous family man who was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Basking Ridge, two daughters, Karen Sullivan and Barbara Henderson, both of Basking Ridge, his son, John Sullivan, and two sons-in-law, Douglas Henderson and Peter Knize. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Galloway & Crane Funeral Home, 9 Church Street, Bernardsville, NJ 07924. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, at St. James Church, 184 South Finley Ave. in Basking Ridge. Visit www.gcfuneralhome.com for more information.
