Janet Elizabeth Kyros

Wife, mother, and sister, always full of life. A woman who careddeeply about others, who devoted her life to serving those in need. Janet Elizabeth Kyros passed away peacefully in her home with family on July 16, 2022 at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Janet’s love for life was unrivaled; she possessed a spark that could light up any person, any situation, no matter the circumstance. As she fought to overcome her illness, her positivity never faltered. Janet’s ability to see the best aspects of life persisted. She set a shining example of how to make the best of what life presents. Her family will continue to honor her legacy through embodying her kindness and her practice of living life to its absolute fullest.

Janet completed her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Toronto and returned to school to earn a Master’s degree in Public Health at the New York Medical College. She started her career working in a group home for young adults with Autism, and her passion to serve folks with developmental disabilities persisted throughout her life.

Janet had a unique ability to find happiness and enjoyment from the simplest things in her daily life. She loved spending time with her husband and three children, as well as visiting with her large extended family. Even her battle with cancer did not prevent her from doing the things she loved–walking, hiking and spending time outdoors by lakes. As a former collegiate basketball player Janet was competitive, but with a soft touch. Her pleasant personality was contagious.

Janet is survived by her husband, Kostas; her children Konstantinos, Ana Sofia, and Alexandra; siblings, Patricia, Caite, Greg, Bob and David; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is scheduled Saturday July 23, 2022 at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. 07920. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm and eulogies will be from 12pm-1pm.
