Obituary of Harden R Boyce, Jr
Harden R Boyce Jr. of Warren passed away at home on Saturday, June 11, 2022 surrounded by family. He was 86 years old.
Born in Baltimore, MD, Harden grew up in Harrisburg, PA and graduated from John Harris High School. His career with the telephone company started at Bell of PA in 1956 and he retired in 1983 from AT&T in Piscataway, NJ.
An avid birder, Harden spent many weekends out enjoying nature and was a member of the NJ Audubon and past president of the Summit Nature Club, amongst others. Furthermore, he was a committed golfer who loved the game, playing at his club, Fairmount, and sharing the sport with his wife. Despite this, he was rarely satisfied with his performance.
Harden had a way of making everyone feel like the most important person in the room and held time with family and friends above everything else. It was at summer picnics in his backyard with the people he loved most that Harden was happiest. He was always the life of the party and he will be missed beyond measure.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years Barbara Cifelli Boyce, his son, Wesley Boyce and his wife Lisa, his daughter Ruth Harris Shavel and her husband Jonathan, and 3 granddaughters, Julianne Harris Cohen and her husband Matthew, Devon Harris Kaufman and her husband Jason, Gabriella Shavel Harari and her husband Avi, and a grandson Joseph Shavel. He was predeceased by his parents, Harden R Boyce, Sr and Ester Inez Boyce, and his sister Barbara Guarino.
Private services are being planned by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the NJ Audubon Society. For further information or to leave an online condolence message please visit www.gcfuneralhome.com
