Obituary of Robert W Wood

Robert (Bob) Wood, 79, of Bernardsville, NJ passed away on February 12, 2022 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover, NJ after a long illness. Visitation will be held on March 19th at 10:00 am in the Amos Room followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, 45 Church St., Liberty Corner, NJ with Rev. Anne Havrilla and Rev. Barnabas Sprinkle officiating.  Bob was born in Rahway, NJ to Wendell and Doris Wood on November 7, 1942.  He graduated from Bernards High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in Communications.  He served in the Air Force which led to a long career in the HVAC field including working at Cape Kennedy on the Apollo-Saturn Project, at the Governor’s Energy Office in Tallahassee, FL and as a civilian for the Navy on Guam.  Most recently, Bob was the co-owner of Ludlow Heating & Cooling in Bernardsville with his brother, Dave, until he retired in 2016.

In his spare time, Bob enjoyed his 1940 Buick, fishing, hiking and camping. He is survived by his wife, Constance of Bernardsville, son Joseph (Amanda) Wood of Ocean Springs, MS, daughter Mary (Jason) Saad of Lincroft, NJ.  He is also survived by his sister, Jean (Richard) Crow of Mechanicsburg, PA and his brother, David (Judy) Wood of Millington, NJ.  Bob had 6 beloved grandchildren:  Abigail, Aric, Chloe, Emma, Miles, and Hudson as well as many nieces and nephews.  Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Doris Wood, and his son, James Wood.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be given to Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church at www. libertycorner.org or Somerset County 4-H at www.4histops.org. Burial will follow the service. Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.  For information, or to send online condolences, please visit the website at www.gcfuneralhome.com.
