Obituary of Glenn Smith

Glenn Alan Smith passed away on December 15, 2021, at the age of 76, in Scotch Plains, NJ. He battled Multiple Systems Atrophy for several years before going to meet his Savior. Glenn was born in Reading, PA to Robert and Ruby Smith. He was a proud graduate of Lehigh University, where he studied math. He continued to follow Lehigh sports closely and loved attending their wrestling matches. After college, Glenn served his country as a radio operator in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves. Later, he became co-founder and Treasurer of Blue Tee Corp, where he had a successful career for over twenty-five years. Glenn was the devoted father of four children and step-father of one, who will all miss him dearly. In 2012, he married Sara Gray, who he loved to spend time with both in NJ and in Florida. They especially enjoyed attending plays at The Shakespeare Theatre of NJ and watching their college football teams play. More than anything, Glenn loved being with his family and relished watching his grandchildren as they grew. He had a quick wit, which he maintained even through the end of his difficult illness, and he was always ready with wise, thoughtful advice. Glenn was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. Until several years ago, he loved volunteering as a math tutor at Newark Christian School. He was also a faithful and generous supporter of the causes dear to his heart, which included Lehigh sports and YoungLife. Glenn was steadfast in his beliefs, and we know he is now rejoicing in the presence of Jesus. Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Sara Gray; his sister, Lucille Christina; his brother, Mark Smith; his daughters and their husbands, Hallie and Fletcher Vredenburgh, Megan and Stephen Colantino, Alexandra and Christopher Medina; his son Robert Smith; his step-daughter and her husband, Ashley Gray and Ryan Sacks; his grandchildren, Michael, James, David, Paul, Kayleigh, and Kemper; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wolfe and Ruby May (Young), and by his brother, Clarence Adams. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 4:00 – 7:00pm. Funeral Service will be at 6:30pm. Burial will be private for the family. For further information, or to leave an online condolence message please visit www.gcfuneralhome.com .
