Obituary of Angela Veronica Pritchard

In Memory of Angela Veronica Toro Pritchard April 24th, 1968 - November 25th, 2021 It is with profound sadness I announce the passing of my dear wife Angela Veronica Toro Pritchard after her yearlong battle with lung and brain Cancer. Veronica passed away peacefully at our home in my arms on Thanksgiving Day, November 25th, 2021 at the age of 53. Veronica was born in Bogotá, Colombia on April 24th, 1968 and then lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil for several years before departing to attend St. George's School, a boarding school in Middletown, Rhode Island, Class of 1987. She then went on to attend Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History. After college she moved to New York City where she worked for several prestigious hotels as a guest liaison due to her ability to speak several languages, including Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. She then went on and worked for Lehman Brothers as an associate in the Emerging Markets Group. In the fall of 1994, Veronica and I met by chance at a Barnes & Noble Book store on 86th Street and it was love at first sight. We married on June 8, 1996 at St. James' Episcopal Church in New York City with Family and Friends from all over the world in attendance. We moved to Simsbury CT in November of 1996 where we had our first son, Alexander. In 2004, we moved to Basking Ridge, NJ where we had our second son Geoffrey. Veronica was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them and loved them unconditionally. For our Boys Alexander and Geoffrey, Veronica was a mentor, an example, a teacher, a comforter, a place to turn for insight and wisdom, a friend, a role model, an advocate, a light, and someone who they could trust. She helped make them feel secure in her love for them. Veronica was an avid tennis player, playing in the USTA Tennis League here in New Jersey for the past decade. She was very active with our local Church, Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, in their Sunday School and Summer Bible Camp and was an Ordained Deacon at our Church. She also loved to read and keep in touch with her many amazing friends from around the world. Veronica had a passion for travel, skiing, sailing, and reading. We were fortunate enough as a family to have enjoyed many trips and vacations to places near and far, including Massachusetts, Rhode Island, NY, CT, and overseas to Colombia, Dominican Republic, England, and Italy. Our final trip together for our second Honeymoon celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary was in Venice and Rome…little did I know that would be our final vacation together, but it truly was a once in a lifetime trip which I will cherish forever. Veronica was my soulmate and my best friend. She was beautiful, both inside and out, extremely bright, athletic, forgiving, patient, kind, witty, gracious and understanding…and a great listener. She was the highlight of each day of my life and we always found time to laugh together, even in the most challenging times. I will miss my dear Vero and this goodbye hurts so much because our story was not finished, and she was taken too soon. Your sons and family will honor you together by loving and taking care of one another and remember your sweet and affectionate laugh. Veronica is survived by her loving parents Mauricio Toro Lopez and Margaret Field Toro, her brother Luis Alejandro Toro, her husband Andrew O. Pritchard, her son’s Alexander M. Pritchard and Geoffrey S. Pritchard, her in-Laws John S. Pritchard, Sr. and Kathryn L. Wasson Pritchard, her brother-in law John S. Pritchard, Jr. and his wife Anne Pritchard, her Sister in-law Sarah R. Pritchard, and her nephews William, Henry and Hugh and niece Charlotte Sanford. Family & friends are invited to attend A Memorial Service for my dear wife Angela Veronica Toro Pritchard on Thursday, December 9th, 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, 45 Church St, Liberty Corner, NJ 07938. A reception to celebrate her life will immediately follow at our home, 33 E. Ash Street, Basking Ridge, NJ. To honor her radiant life, guests are invited to wear green, her favorite color.
