Obituary of Barbara J. Summers

Barbara J Summers, of Basking Ridge NJ died at home on October 31, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Summers was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 12 ,1931, daughter of the late Thomas and Louise Buda. She graduated from Lincoln High School at 17 years old and was employed at the Chase Manhattan Bank for 7 years part of the support staff for the Bank President, David Rockefeller. At night she attended New York University. Mrs. Summers was the loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Frank for 64 years, and a wonderful, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. Passionate about early literacy, Mrs. Summers was School Librarian for 10 years at Our Lady of Grace School, and longtime volunteer at the Princeton Public Library. An avid gardener, roses were her specialty. She was very athletic and exercised every day. A classic beauty, she always had a great sense of style, and was truly an inspiration to her family and many friends. Mrs. Summers is survived by her daughters Patricia Summers Gibson (Peter) and Barbara Summers Madaio (Michael), sons Gregory Francis Summers (Gerri) and Brian Thomas Summers (Jean). Known as Bobbi, she will be deeply missed by her thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at St. James RC Church in Basking Ridge. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
