Obituary of Bevan Charles Buel

Bevan Charles Buel passed away August 30, 2021. Bevan was born on December 27, 1937 in Saint Mary’s, Ohio, where he grew up and graduated high school. He attended the University of Cincinnati where he majored in broadcasting and met his beloved wife, Dona. After college, Bevan served in the Air Force Reserves for 6 years. During that time he worked as a camera man on several local TV shows and as a salesman for Gold Metal Products. Bevan eventually became a licensed insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance Company. He operated his own insurance agency in Cincinnati for over 40 years. Bevan also loved ice cream and opened his own ice cream parlor in one of the local malls in Cincinnati. Bevan was involved in many charities and business organizations. He enjoyed spreading good will throughout his community by organizing drives to provide meals and presents for local underprivileged families at Christmas. Bevan also served as President of the Exchange Club of Cincinnati for many years. Bevan and Dona lived in Cincinnati for over years where they raised their children, Andrea and Kendra. He was a wonderful father who took an active interest in his daughters’ lives from childhood through adulthood. He coached them both in soccer and eventually led them to a state championship. He took great pride in their successes in the fashion industry after they moved to New York City following college. After retiring in 2007, Bevan and Dona moved to Lewes, Delaware to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Bevan had a great love of flying. Unfortunately, a problem with his vision prevented him from obtaining his pilot’s license. Not to be denied his passion, he became an active member of the Greater Cincinnati Radio Control Club and the Lewes Radio Control Club. Over the years he built many radio controlled airplanes, including his pride and joy - a massive B52 bomber that continues to fly the skies of Cincinnati. Bevan loved history, especially War War II. He had a deep respect and love for his country. Bevan was also deeply religious. His strong faith in God sustained him throughout his life, in good times and in bad. Bevan was lucky to find love twice in his life. He was happily married to Dona for 42 years. After her death in 2007, Bevan met Rosie Marks with whom he shared 13 happy years, playing golf and traveling. Bevan is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dona, his sister, Marge Brenner, and his brother, Harold Buel. He is survived by his daughters Andrea (Buel) McGee and Kendra (Buel) Baker, their husbands, Kevin McGee and Jeff Baker, loving grandchildren Cydney and Brigette McGee and Jordan and Preston Baker, and his beloved companion, Rosie Marks. God speed Bevan. You were deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all.
