Gerard Brady

Obituary of Gerard Brady

Gerard Mark Brady passed away peacefully in his home in Basking Ridge at the age 67 on May 5, 2021. A friend, a husband, a father and most affectionately known as Grampy, he was surrounded by the love of close family in his final days. The youngest of five siblings, Gerard was born on September 28, 1953 in Pittstown, Pennsylvania to William and Ann Brady. Gerard graduated from Kings College in 1975, before embarking on career-long employment for AT&T. He went on to get his Master’s degree from Rutgers in 1989. During his early years at AT&T, he met the love of his life and who he would describe as his better half, Johanna. Together, they had two children: Matthew and Michael. Gerard enjoyed golfing, lawn work, biking and hiking, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. Always a doting family man, Gerard sought to follow his motto of “living a life of continued immaturity, followed by death”, which was evident in the fun and entertaining games he played with his family, creating some of their fondest memories of him. When Gerard retired, he spent several days a week watching his granddaughter, which he described as the happiest times of his life. Gerard is survived by his wife Johanna Brady, his children Matthew (Ashleigh) Brady and Michael Brady, his grandchildren Lillianne Brady and Patrick Brady, his siblings John (Barbara) Brady, Thomas (Kathleen) Brady, William (Mary Kay) Brady and Mary Ellen (Gary) Sigman, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ann. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11:30am at Saint James Catholic Church in Basking Ridge, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations in Gerard’s name to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, Inc.
