Obituary of Patrick J. D'Amico

Patrick D’Amico passed away peacefully on March 29, 2021, at Morristown Memorial Center in Morristown, New Jersey. Patrick was born and raised in Bernardsville, New Jersey where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Bernards High School in 1956, attended Seton Hall University in South Orange and then joined the Air Force, where he was stationed in Ohio, North Africa, Roswell, New Mexico and California. Patrick met his beautiful wife, Olivia, of 61 years in Merced, California during Patrick’s four-year tour at Castle Air Force Base. Their courtship lasted for six months prior to being married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bernardsville while Patrick was still in the Air Force in California. Patrick was the inventory manager at the VA Medical Center in the Lyons section of Bernards Township for thirty years. He was a sports enthusiast and loved the NY Mets. He previously served as coach for the Bernardsville Little League and the women’s softball league and also was an umpire for the Bernardsville recreational men’s and women’s softball leagues. His greatest joy was spending time with his loving wife, Olivia, of 61 years and his family. He loved to laugh and tell jokes and to say he had a great sense of humor was an understatement. He was the son of Ann and Anthony D’Amico, his father, Anthony, also being a life-long Bernardsville resident. Patrick is predeceased by his son, Patrick Jr. He leaves behind his wife, Olivia, his children, Linda Gaut (and David) of Bloomsbury, NJ, Anthony D’Amico of Bernardsville, NJ and Michael (and Sharon) D’Amico of Bridgewater, NJ, as well as three grandchildren (Jessica, Nicole and Jonathan), and three great grandchildren (Nicholas, Ava and Francesca). Visitation will be Monday, April 5, 2021 at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. A private service and burial for the immediate family will follow at 1pm at the Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge, NJ.
