Obituary of Eileen V Freda

Eileen Virginia “I” Freda, 84, of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away peacefully on June 12, 2020, with her loving husband Bill, of 61 years at her side. Visitation will be held at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Tuesday, June 16, at 10am. Visitation is limited to 50 people. An 11:30 am funeral mass will follow at The Church of St. James, 184 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Interment to follow at St. Vincent Martyr Cemetery, at the corner of Shunpike Road and Noe Ave, Madison, NJ. Eileen was born in Brooklyn, NY to Ellen “Agnes” and James “Jim” McGrath on July 10, 1935. She attended high school at St. Francis Academy in Brooklyn, NY. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from St. Joseph’s College, Brooklyn, NY. Eileen began her profession as a Kindergarten teacher in Long Island and continued her career in the Chatham, Madison and Summit school systems. Eileen’s number one priority was her family. Eileen is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Freda of Basking Ridge, NJ, and her four daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” Miller (husband William “Bill”) of Morristown, NJ, Karen Mallon (husband John) of Brookside, NJ, Ellen Odren and (significant other Thomas “Tom” Rauter) of DE and Deborah “Debbie” Browne (husband Robert “Bob”) of Basking Ridge, NJ and her beloved grandchildren Erin and husband (Brian) Williams, William Miller, Colleen Mallon, Emma and Patrick Odren, and Madeline, Caroline and Jack Browne and great granddaughter, Riley Ries Williams and many loving nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Myra Nesterok, James “Jim” McGrath and Margaret “Peggy” Brehm.
