Obituary of Frank P Tuhy, Jr.

Frank Philip Tuhy, Jr passed away at home on June 3rd, 2020 at home after a 4 ½ year, well fought battle of pancreatic cancer.Born in Perth Amboy, NJ  and raised in Woodbridge, NJ to the late Frank Philip, Sr and Gertrude Emig Tuhy, Frank settled in Basking Ridge, NJ, living there for 30 years.Frank attended Rutgers University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As an electrical engineer, he started his career at Bell Laboratories.  After the breakup of the Bell System, he worked at Bellcore and Next Level Communications.  He finished his accomplished career as a consultant for Silicon Valley communications companies.  He had the opportunity to support telecom companies in China, Japan, and South Korea.Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Jan; his son Rob and wife Jennifer; daughter Rachel and husband Mike, daughter Dianne, and daughter Kathleen.  The greatest joy of his life were his 5 grandchildren, Gabriel, Grace, Gwen, Charlotte, and Maggie. Frank was the ultimate DIY handyman. He repaired jewelry, rebuilt clocks, remodeled kitchens and bathrooms, and built storage sheds and a patio.  He always had a project going.  Frank could be known to fly or drive hours just to help one of his kids install a ceiling fan or rewire a light fixture.An interest of his was sport cars, having owned Corvettes and an Acura NSX.  His mechanical skills rivaled those of a professional.  He was meticulous in the care of his cars and enjoyed maintaining them.  He loved talking about cars and was a great source of knowledge for fellow NSX owners. Frank was actively involved in the MIT alumni club, serving as vice president of communications, keeping members informed of event.   He also planned many events including food and wine adventures and the club picnic, serving as the barbeque master. Frank will be missed for his love of family, along with his many talents and wisdom.  He will be remembered as a master of puns and terrible Dad jokes.Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Gallaway and Crane, 101 S Finley Ave, Basking Ridge.
