Obituary of Matthew Sarver
Matthew J. Sarver, 35, of Bernardsville, NJ passed away on 2/22/2020. He was born and raised in Bernardsville. In his youth, Matthew participated in Cub Scouts, Little League Baseball and was a member of the intramural wrestling team. He also enjoyed collecting sports/baseball and hockey cards.
After graduating from high school, he attended Raritan Valley Community College in North Branch, NJ and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts in August 2006. He later went on to attend Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME Distinction) in 2010. His achievements at Virginia Tech included being a National Conference Presenter at the Niweek Robotics and Autonomous Vehicles Summit in Austin, TX in August 2010 where he spoke about an Autonomous Robotic Mail Courier. He also received recognition for his Mechanical Engineering Senior Design project and was awarded “Best in Innovation and Creativity” in 2010 for the development of an Autonomous Helicopter for Virginia Tech’s 2009-2010 International Aerial Robotics Competition Team.
His current employer was Direct Millwork in Washington, NJ where he recently moved into the position of Commercial Estimator.
Matthew enjoyed listening to music and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed the outdoors and fishing and watching sporting events, especially from his alma mater. He also had a great sense of humor.
Matthew is survived by his loving girlfriend, Nicole Listmeier of Hackettstown, NJ, his parents Patrick and Judith Sarver of Bernardsville, and his brother Eric and his wife Julia along with his niece Elina and his nephew Parker of Fairfax, VA. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Michael and Nancy Fader of Brick, NJ, his cousin Caren Pasquale and her husband David and their children, Derek, Daniela and Trevor of Montville, NJ as well as his cousin Michael Edward Fader and his wife Regina and their children Michael Joseph and Sarah of Freehold, NJ. Additionally he is survived by his aunt, Carol Valdez and her husband Paul from Houston, TX as well as a great aunt, Sally Flynn of Clinton, MO.
To celebrate Matthew’s life, there will be a memorial visitation for the immediate family and close friends on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.
Interment will take place at a later date at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
