Dear Janet, Judith, and all,
I just learned of Ernie's passing, now a year ago! I was in Ernie's class at College High School, and have fond memories of him picking me up at 6 am all senior year to attend our Atomic and Nuclear Physics class on TV together at school. We used to double date a lot and since I lived in Passaic he'd always pick me up first.
But our paths crossed much earlier in life, too. His father Warren and my father Al Graeter were best friends at Passaic H.S. Class of 1927 (and his mother Dot and my mother were there too). When my father volunteered for the Army Medical Corps in World War II and was gone for three years, "Uncle Warren" would come over and play with my two older sisters and me. Our families always had a close and warm association. I am in Florida now and always thought I would get in touch with Ernie down here and reconnect, but I will always have fond memories of him and I send my belated condolences to the whole family.
Judy, if you pick this up, I'd love to connect with you. I'm at joycehenzel@gmail.com.
Sincerely, Joyce Graeter (Henzel now)

Janet and kids,
I was so very sorry to see this. It was such fun having you both as neighbors in Summit and being able to witness and babysit for your beautiful growing family in the late 60’s. I remember our late night talks after you’d get home and how much my dad Jim loved being with you all, too. Ernie’s genuine interest in people and clever sense of humor were truly his gifts. I know you are missing him. ❤️

I’m the beverage cart girl at a Bonita Bay (for 15 years) Ernie Always made me laugh. He enjoyed his fruit cups on the golf course. Being from NY I think we had a fun connection and got each other’s humor. Over the years he was always kind, fun, and generous! May Ernie rest peace and I believe his loved ones will meet with Ernie again one day!
Warmest regards
Laurie (the bev cart girl) ox
