Obituary of Peter DeSalvo, III

Peter DeSalvo III, 19, of Basking Ridge, NJ, cherished son of Colleen (nee Giblin) and Peter DeSalvo, Jr., passed away suddenly on February 1. He was a freshman at Sacred Heart University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, while also being a valued member of the SHU Rugby team. Peter was an outstanding athlete who, for years, participated in various recreational sports including NJ Rugby, for which he earned All State Honors. He was a member of Ridge Rugby and the Varsity football team at Ridge High School, from which he graduated in 2019. Known for his kind heart and generous spirit, he found volunteer work very rewarding. Throughout his high school years, he mentored a young student with autism. He adored his cousins, Christina, Sarah, Hannah, Valery, Anna, Joseph and Allison. He lit up the world with his blue eyes, long eyelashes and beautiful smile. He is also survived by his Grandfather, Edward Galante, and was predeceased by his Grandmother, Mary (Jill) Galante, his Grandfather, Peter DeSalvo, Sr., and his Grandmother, Frances (Jean) DeSalvo. He leaves many Aunts and Uncles; Donna DeSalvo, Christine and Patrick Daniello, Mary Beth Sheehan, Victor and Maritza Galante, Edward Galante II and Jessica Nicola, and David Galante. He will be missed by his large and loving group of cousins, friends, teammates, fellow students, coaches and neighbors. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020, 11:00 am at St. James Church, Basking Ridge. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
