Obituary of Margaret Ann Moriarty

Margaret Ann Moriarty

Peggy died peacefully in her home on December 10, 2019 in Bedminster, New Jersey at the age of 76.

Memorial services will be held at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, 129 Main Street, Peapack, NJ on Saturday 12/21, at 12pm with Monsignor Edward Puleo officiating. A gathering will be held  afterwards at Peggy’s home, 75 South Edgewood Road, Bedminster, NJ. A burial service will be held in Halifax in the summer of 2020, date to be determined, where she will be laid to rest with her parents.

Peggy was born November 24, 1943 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She was the daughter of Mary Anne Jamieson and William Basil Moriarty. She attended Catholic school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Halifax Nova Scotia. She then attended college at St.Francis Xavier in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Peggy is survived by her children, Heather (Scott), Colleen (Jim) & Bill (Sherry) as well as her grandchildren, Nick, Jessica, Kelly, Grace, Bridget & Cameron and her beloved Brussels Griffons dog, Angus. She is preceded in death by her husband Don Woronecki but survived by her former spouse John Cameron MacDonald.

Although she lived in New Jersey for many years, her heart was always in Nova Scotia.

Peggy grew up on Pt. Pleasant Drive in Halifax, and knew bliss as she exercised her horse Brian in Pt. Pleasant Park, adjacent to her home. She had many friends from her school days to whom she was generous and faithful, and was beyond thrilled to go back for school reunions the past few summers.

Peggy was riding a Clydesdale with her grandchildren just 5 months ago. She was a huge lover of all animals and made many charitable donations to animal causes. She sponsored AA participants for over 35 years. She enjoyed playing tennis, was an avid gardener, and a great neighbor.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center at: www.sthuberts.org/donate
