Obituary of Allyson C. Hughes

Allyson Cupo Hughes, 56, of Basking Ridge, NJ, passed away on October 14, 2019 peacefully in her home surrounded by family.

Funeral service will be held at St. James Church in Basking Ridge on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 11:00 am. A brief visitation will be held prior to the service in the foyer of the church from 9:00 am-10:30 am. Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Allyson was born in Clifton, NJ to Linda & Thomas Cupo on November 25, 1962. She went to high school at Paul VI in Clifton and graduated in 1980. In 1984, she earned a degree in Bachelor of Science from Ohio Wesleyan University. She was a licensed insurance broker and spent majority of her career as Vice President of Anthony S. Cupo Agency. In addition, Allyson held various positions for multiple charity organizations in northern New Jersey including the Passaic Mental Health Association and Basking Ridge PTO.

She loved to read, cook, travel and spend time with her treasured family and countless friends. Allyson’s positivity, resilience and strength inspired everyone around her, especially during her 3-year battle with lung cancer.

Allyson is survived by her husband of 32 years, Owen T. Hughes, her children, Brittany, Evan, Cameron & Reilly Hughes, her parents, Linda & Thomas Cupo, and siblings Susan Cupo and Jeffrey Cupo. She was a beloved aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Nancy & Ben Piscoli and Janet & Anthony Cupo.
