Obituary of Michael James Franco
Michael James Franco, 56, of Morristown, NJ, passed away on September 15th at his home.
Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 91 Maple Avenue, Morristown, NJ on September 20th, 2019 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ. Visitation will be held at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ September 19th, 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Michael was born in Bayside Queens, NY to Robert P. and Margaret Franco on November 17, 1962. He graduated from Randolph High School in 1980 and went on to earn a BS in Computer Science from Lock Haven University. He worked as a Project Manager in Technology and achieved his goal of early retirement from the Bank of New York Mellon in 2018. He was an avid road cyclist, accomplished at time trial racing and a member of the Liberty Cycling Club of Basking Ridge, NJ.
Michael, a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother is survived by his wife, Julia Franco; daughters Teresa Gardner, Marissa Franco and Jessica Sherman; granddaughters Lily and Chloe Sherman; parents Robert P. and Margaret Franco; brother Robert Franco and his wife Kelly; brother Thomas Franco and his wife Maryann; sister Melissa Donnelly and her husband Kevin and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Mario and Amelia Scognamillo and Bernard and Theresa Franco.
