Obituary of J. Albert Mastro, Jr.

J. Albert Mastro, Jr, 60, of Basking Ridge, formerly of Bernardsville, died peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2019.  He was the son of Dolores Beightol and the late J. Albert Mastro, Sr.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday August 9, 2019 at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home followed by interment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, in Bernardsville. 

Mr. Mastro was born on October 14, 1958, the oldest of three children.  He attended Bernardsville public schools and Raritan Valley Community College.  Jay’s career spanned over 30 years as general manager of Wexford International, Inc. in Mendham.  After his retirement, his passion for cars inspired him to found an auto restoration and repair business, focusing on high performance cars.

Jay’s family and friends will miss his kind, loving, boundless generosity, his humility and compassion.  He had an enthusiastic willingness to help anyone who sought his expertise in fixing all things, whether electrical, mechanical, technological, or anything that was broken.  He even got up from his hospital bed, found the necessary tools and fixed the clock in his room while he was hospitalized.

Jay will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Adrienne, son, J. Albert, III, daughters Ashley, Justine and Maya, his mother, siblings, Cheryl Macdowall (John) and Raymond (Deborah), one granddaughter, Skylar, and one niece, Lexie and two nephews Nicholas and Ian.
