Sílvia Mendiola Buj

May 22, 1971 – July 15, 2019

Sílvia Mendiola Buj passed away peacefully in Bedminster, New Jersey on July 15, 2019 at the age of 48 after an extremely brave battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in the city of Terrassa in the province of Barcelona in Spain. Sílvia completed her elementary education at La Roda, an esteemed elementary school in Barcelona. She went on to finish her secondary education at Can Colapi and then completed her bachelor’s degree in Marketing at Abat Oliba University in Barcelona.

In 1998, Sílvia visited New York City and fell in love with the Big Apple. After several trips back and forth over the years, she made the courageous move to the United States in 2004 with only a suitcase containing her belongings. For many years, she worked at the costume design company, Menkes, located in the Broadway theater district in New York.

Sílvia was a world traveler, visiting places in Asia and throughout Europe and North America. She was a talented painter and loved to dance and swim. She spoke Catalonian, Castilian, and English and was and very proud of her Catalonian heritage. Sílvia had a magnetic personality and cherished her many friendships. She has left an unforgettable footprint in many of our lives and will be forever loved and remembered.

Sílvia is survived by her husband, Roger L. McMullen; her parents, Manel Mendiola Querol and Josefa Buj Poveda; her sister, Maria Àngels Mendiola Buj; her nieces and nephews, Lluís Alías Mendiola, Eva Alías Mendiola, Àngels Alías Mendiola, Seth McLaughlin, Joshua McLaughlin, Alyssa McLaughlin, A.J. Price, Ashley Price, and Justin Price; her brother-in-laws, Ramon Alías Madrona and Alex Price; her mother-in-law, CarolJean McMullen; her grandmother, Maria Schultheis; her very special cousin, Armand Bonet Buj; and her beloved sister-in-law, Kimberly Price.
