Obituary of William J Parkinson

William J. Parkinson, Jr., 62, of Basking Ridge William "Bill" Joseph Parkinson, Jr., of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. With his loving family by his side, Bill died peacefully at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, on February 16, 1950, Bill grew up in Clifton, New Jersey, and graduated Clifton High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Newark College of Engineering (now the New Jersey Institute of Technology), and earned a Master of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He began his career at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company before becoming a devoted employee of AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Avaya, and Alcatel-Lucent, where he served as a corporate real estate manager. Bill was the beloved husband of Jane S. Parkinson for 37 years, loving father of Kristin J. McInerney and her husband, John, Courtney B. Parkinson, and Kyle W. Parkinson. He was the devoted brother to Patrick Parkinson and his wife, Claire, and Richard Parkinson. He adored his grandson Dylan William McInerney, who was the joy of his life. Bill is also survived by his loving sister-in-law, Judith Goodwin, and her husband, Mike, as well as his niece, Kacey Semchenko, and nephews Brian Parkinson, Scott Parkinson, Michael Goodwin, and Jeffrey Goodwin. Bill's greatest passion was spending time with his family and friends. He brightened the lives of all around him with his boundless energy and wonderful sense of humor. Endlessly considerate, he took great joy in caring for and assisting everyone in his life. Bill spent many vacations and summers on the beach with his wife and children at his homes in Lavallette, New Jersey, and Marco Island, Florida. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, boating, exercising, and having fun with his dear friends and family. He was a long time parishioner of the Church of St. James and attended Mass daily. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 9 Church Street, Bernardsville, New Jersey, on Friday, April 20th, from 2pm to 4pm and from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
