There are so many good things that quickly come to mind when we think of Rick. He was the Renaissance man, the good Samaritan, the loving husband, father and grandfather; there are so many ways we will remember him.
One will always stand out: If he did you a favor—and he was always there to help out and in so many way— If you thanked him, he’d demure saying, “you are a friend!”
We remember the recent time both of us were ill and barely ambulatory. Late in the afternoon, on the bench at our front door sat two large cartons of hot chicken soup (from Kings). When we called to thank him, he shrugged it off with “you’re a friend!”
That’s how we remember Rick: He was a friend.
And you should also know about Chicken Soup. That stuff really works!

My deepest condolences to the family for this tremendous loss. May the words found at Isaiah 26:19 bring you comfort in knowing that you will one day see Richard again.
Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life"

Richard’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

Rick and I were office mates in Bedminster, NJ over 20 years ago. Rick, if you are listening up there, I miss seeing your smiling face every morning. You made work fun and kept us laughing during stressful times. You were such a joy to be around and we all adored you. You were one of a kind and will be missed. Bless you and your family, RIP!

I think the last time I saw Ricky (besides family funerals) I was a child at a family get-together. I remember looking at this tall, young, athletic young man and wondering how I missed out on having those genes. I see from the tributes that he was well loved by his family and friends. My condolences to all whose lives he touched.

Dear Marilyn, Evan, Eric, Barbara Ed and Debbie,
I was sorry to learn of the passing of Ricky, one of my brother Bob and my first New York friends. Each time we arrived from Boston we were always welcomed with smiles and joy, and introduced to many of the New York cultures such as 1010 WINS, the Yankees, and later Cooperstown and The Baseball Hall of Fame.
Then came the Christmas card with a photo of Ricky and Phil Rizzuto.
Ricky shared his love and happiness with all, and encouraged us all to do the same
My sympathies to all of Ricky's family and friends.

I went to the farm yesterday to take care of my vegetable plot, which is next to what would be Rick’s plot. I miss him. I will miss talking about the different vegetables we planted. Yes it was a shock to learn of his untimely death. But, what is more is that I will miss Rick’s humor, his knowledge, intellect and most of all his being an all round good human being. Both Camille and I feel for Marilyn and what must be a devastating loss of her life’s partner. Rick’s devotion to his family was apparent and they have our heartfelt sympathy. No one who knew Rick cannot but feel that we will go forward with the loss of his goodness in our lives.

Dear Marilyn and Family, I extend my prayers to you in your loss of RICK. I saw in Rick's years of coaching youth that his approaches to players built strong self esteem in each player over the seasons ; this self exteem has resulted in those players building skills and healthy attitudes and concern for others, that have carried them into happy adult lives.
Rick was competitive but i always saw concern to develop each player into improving, Always had a pleasant bit of humor to extend to his teams in difficult games, Taught skills well and showed his players his positive attitude to emulate . Rick gave me and others solid help of many weekend hours when we built new fields and backstops at schools to serve the growing player volumes.
Rick's constant coaching ways to improve play in many children, over a decade
brought happy players who saw that drills and effort brought healthy winning internal attitudes needed in the growth years.

Many happy memories of Rick be with you, and I hope that these promises from the Scriptures help you endure, because Jehovah is the God of all comfort. “Do not be anxious.....but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.” Isaiah 26:4; Philippians 4:6-7 NWT. Peace be with you.

The Friends of the Kennedy Martin Stelle Farmstead will greatly miss Rick, who served as a Trustee and head of the construction committee for the Farmstead for the past 6 years. Rick was a great leader, guiding the board in the best ways to preserve and maintain the 300 year old farmhouse and barns, and he was always willing to pick up a hammer and do what needed to be done around the farm. We'll miss his smile and great sense of humor. Our sincere condolences to his family. Rick was a wonderful man.

Dear Marilyn and family,
I was saddened to hear of Rick's passing.
My husband and I met you at Jim's neighbors on Lyons Road. Rick had previously befriended my boxer, Rocky, one day in front of your house. Rocky and I always enjoyed our encounters with you and Rick while walking with Lady.
I hope that you will find comfort in the many years that you had together with your family and dogs. Keep getting out on those great walks with Lady.
warm regards,
Margaret Milton and Rocky

Marilyn, Evan and Eric, there are no words that we can say to make your pain and suffering any easier. Please know Rick was the best neighbor as he was always there asking about the kids, chatting in the garage or over the fence. It was a great 18 years, we are so sorry for your loss. RIP. Dear Marilyn and family, I was shocked and heartbroken when I heard the news. My heart goes out to all of you. I have such fond memories of Ricky and his visits to L.A. and down the shore. He made me laugh a lot. I would have to tell him not to approach the celebrities at Paramount knowing that he wouldn't listen. I have pictures of him on the set of CHEERS. I am still stunned and thinking of you. He will be truly missed.

Marilyn,
I just spoke to Rick not more than 2 weeks ago. Rick being Rick, he was passing by the house , saw me doing some yard work in the front yard and decided to stop by for a quick chat. It went on for a few hours and he said he needed to get back home because Marilyn would know it doesn't take that long to play 9 holes of golf.
Rick was cited frequently in our house for one of his famous quotes when we were giving any type of directions. I remember Rick would always say, "When you get there you can see it from the road."
Rick, I hope you are looking down on us and smiling, as we are all on that road looking back up.
Rick we are going to miss you. God bless you and your family.

Kelly and I just heard this tragic news.
We are devastated!
Marilyn, you and Rick were always in our conversations because of all the fun times we shared.
Rick wrote a beautiful letter to me when my sister passed. I still have it.
What comfort can be in his passing, except that he adored his family and had a wonderful life because of that.
We are so sad we did not share such time with you in the past few years.
Love and prayers.
