Robert Boyle

Obituary of Robert D Boyle

Robert D. “Bob” Boyle of Madison, New Jersey passed away peacefully on April 19, 2019 at the age of 65.  Bob had many attributes and accomplishments, but he will be remembered most for his unfailing positivity and good cheer. Bob was born in New York, New York on March 9, 1954.  He was the oldest child of Dennis and Regina Moore Boyle.  He was the loving husband of Maura Fitzgerald Boyle for 37 years and devoted father of Michael and Anne Boyle.

After attending Ridge High School, Class of 1972, Bob went on to be a proud graduate of the University of Scranton, where he received a B.A. in Accounting in 1976.  Bob then received his Master’s in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickenson University.  Bob was a remarkably talented financial accountant.  He was responsible for significant contributions to the Securities and Exchange Commission filings of Chubb Insurance Company and Ace Insurance Company.  At the time of his passing, Bob was an Assistant Vice President at Ace, where he focused on accounting for their South American operations.

While Bob had an excellent and rewarding career that earned him the admiration of his colleagues, Bob shined most in his joyful interactions with his friends and family.  Bob’s lifelong friendships were vibrant and active.  The outpouring of sorrow from his friends is a profound testament to Bob’s joyous nature and his persistent cultivation of those friendships.  Bob was also a gentle and caring brother who was beloved by his six younger siblings.  He was unfailingly kind and virtually incapable of showing anger.  Simply put, he was a good soul. He was a constant at family functions, where he exhibited his trademark positive attitude and gregarious nature.  Bob was an avid sportsman and novice military historian.  He had a PhD level knowledge of the history of the Pacific Theater in World War II.  He likely focused on that due to his father’s service on Guadalcanal in World War II.

Bob’s greatest accomplishment and joy was being a loving father.  He was active in Michael and Anne’s lives, including coaching their sports teams and mentoring and guiding them into adulthood.  He will be profoundly missed.

Surviving Bob is his wife Maura and their children Michael Boyle, husband of Joyce Wright Boyle, of Pittsburg, PA, and Anne Boyle of Madison NJ, as well as Bob’s mother Regina, and his siblings John, Thomas, Joseph, Mary, Jean and Jane.
