I just learned of George's passing and am so sorry not to have responded earlier.
I have very fond memories of meeting and chatting with George at Amateur Astronomers meetings in Sperry Observatory many years ago. His sharing of information on the subject was amazing. Then I met him an number of times at Basking Ridge historic events and bought his book on Lord Stirling. Again, he captivated my attention with his knowledge on historical matters. George was truly a "Universal Man." My sympathies go to his family. He will be greatly missed.

George’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

George was one of the first people I met when I joined Bell Labs in 1980. As he guided my career, we became friends through discussing photography and cameras. Over the next 39 years I learned of his multitude of interests, from art, printing, wood working, machine shop, astronomy, ornithology, history, public speaking, and of course photography.
The amazing thing is that in each of his fields of interest, he dove in deeply, publishing papers, and giving lectures.
In the 34 year history of the Fleetwood Museum George was the driving force behind every exhibit and publication.
