Nicholas Houghton

Obituary of Nicholas Houghton

Nicholas Houghton passed away February 14th at 2am in his home. He was such a special, strong, loving, and funny person. He had been through many struggles and many hardships both in his life and in his mind, but he always pushed through them with an undeniable will to be better, be happier, to care for his family, whom he treasured more than anything in this world. He was the best daddy to his puppy Shelby, who misses him so dearly. He was the greatest brother, son, grandson, cousin, friend & person we have ever known.

Nicholas Houghton was born September 17, 1983  and it was the greatest day of my life, even though I wasn’t born yet. The greatest day of our Moms life, to hold her most precious blessing in her arms. The greatest day of my dads life to have a son, to hold so much in common. I’ve looked up to him, loved him, and wished I could be half the person he is since the moment I was born. He was always there to guide me, teach me, protect me, make me laugh. I could never have been more proud to call him my broheem, he is the greatest big brother there has ever been.

He would play his guitar sing to our mom for hours as she fell asleep with a full heart, his voice was so strong and passionate.  It told stories of pain, struggle, and heartache; but it also told stories of love, truth, dedication, & victory.  He loved to work out heavy and feel the strength God gave him, always wanting to improve, learn, & be greater. He loved to train people and help them on their journey to feel better about themselves. He was always there to talk to, watch movies, joke, snuggle Shelby & eat everything he could find. He loved all his cars and he’s sitting in his 67 Cougar right now, cruising around listening to Johnny Cash. Johnny would have been proud of the voice my brother continued to tribute to his memory. He always brought crowds around to listen his musical talents wether it be singing or rhyming. He was a masterful artist that could sketch or draw anything. His art was a reflection of his heart and mind. He loved movies and comics just like me and we could stay up and talk until 4 or 5am no problem. He always wanted to be a counselor for people with the same troubles he had, to help them fight to be better like he always did. He never quit and he never wanted to leave us. He had so much that he worked so hard to show us, to show himself.

Our friend Matt told me yesterday “I had a dream of your brother busting through the pearly gates like the koolaid man” hahaha and that’s exactly what happened. I don’t think God knows what he got himself into. He’s up there right now with our Grandpop, who he is so happy to hold again; beating everybody in armwrestling & my brother is showing Jesus how to deadlift. Guaranteed.

We love you & miss you so very much Nicholas, I will be praying day and night to be with you again soon.
