EDMUND I DAHL

April 19, 1929 - January 12, 2019

Devoted Father, Naval Officer and Finance Executive

 

Born in W. Hartford, CT on April 19, 1929, Edmund was the son of Idoff and Edith Dahl and the eldest of three children. He attended the Loomis Institute (Loomis-Chaffee School), Yale University and Harvard Business School.

Edmund married Evelyn Muller of West Hartford, CT on June 22, 1951. Edmund and Evelyn resided in Chelsea, MA, where he was an officer in the Navy.  They subsequently resided in Metuchen, and Colonia, New Jersey where they raised three daughters.  They were members of the Dutch Reformed Church of Metuchen, where Edmund served as a Deacon.

Edmund began his career in Finance at Johnson & Johnson (Chicopee), and held Finance positions at American Tobacco, International Paper Company and Airco. He concluded his career as CFO of the US Navy Exchange, Staten Island, NY.

For the last seven years, Edmund resided at Stonebridge at Mongtomery, Skillman, New Jersey, where he enjoyed bridge, choir and community.

Edmund was a devoted father and leaves three grateful daughters, Nancy Black of Vancouver, WA and her three children and grandson, Susan Dahl of Madison, CT and Karen and son-in-law, Wayne Lorentzen of Monroe, NJ.

He also leaves his beloved brother, Elmer and sister in law, Hazel of Cromwell, CT and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Penny and sister, Eileen Lord.

A private Internment and Memorial Service will be held.  Donations in Edmund’s honor may be made to The Loomis Chaffee School Scholarship and Financial Assistance Fund and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
