Warren William Marquardt

“Greatest Generation”

 

Warren William Marquardt, 94, of Bedminster, NJ passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018.  He was born in Maspeth, New York and was predeceased by his mother, Isabel, his father, John and his sister, Diane.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy; his daughters Christine Pane (Bernie), Kathy Marohn (Chip) and Mary Jane Glaser (Jim).  Also, his grandchildren Jessica, Jaime, Lauren, Kevin (Meghan), Kristen (John) and his great grandchildren Logan and Makenzie.

He served his country as a sonar operator on the USS Harmon Destroyer Escort in the Pacific Campaign, 1942 – 1946.  He received the Bronze Star for the Philippine Liberation Battle of Leyte Gulf.

He graduated from Columbia University School of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science Degree, class of 1950.  He spent his professional career of 40 years as a chemical engineer with Merck & Co., Rahway, NJ.

Warren enjoyed gardening, and designing and building projects in his home workshop.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was also an avid NY Mets and Giants fan.  His favorite saying was “LETS GO METS”! 

The visitation will be on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 34 Peapack Road, Far Hills, N.J. Internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge, NJ.
