Obituary of Annie H Shadbolt

Annie “Nan” Shadbolt passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at her home in Basking Ridge at the age of 96.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1922, she married the late Edward Shadbolt in 1949.  As a homemaker, she travelled around the world with her family, including stops in Greece, Canada, Spain, England, Holland, Libya and Japan in support of her husband’s career as an instrument engineer for Exxon.  The family settled in Basking Ridge in 1970.  

She enjoyed reading mysteries, knitting, baking, and, especially, a good cup of Scottish tea (with milk and sugar).  She was active in a variety of local volunteer groups, including Meals on Wheels, the Somerset Hills Bonafides, and the Basking Ridge Garden Club. 

She is survived by her three children, Craig Shadbolt of Caldwell, Lindsay Shadbolt and wife Elizabeth of Ridgewood, and Lesley Van Bokkem Boone and husband Bill of Bowie, Maryland; and her grandchildren, Kelsey, Rachel, Kristin, Matthew, Will, Chris and Evan.
