Obituary of Oscar M Verschleiser
Oscar M. Verschleiser, 88, of Venice FL, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Oscar was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised his family in Queens before moving to West Caldwell and retiring to Venice FL. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Oscar worked as a Electrical Engineer for Nabisco for many years. He loved to golf, playing poker and bowling. He loved playing baseball when he was younger and had the opportunity to try out for the New York Giants in the late 1940s before the team moved to San Francisco.
Oscar is predeceased by his first wife Maria Verschleiser in 2000. His brother Irving Verschleiser, two sisters Anne Wasserman and Sylvia Citron. He is survived by his second wife Madge of 17 years. His two sons David Verschleiser and wife Christine and Daniel Verschleiser and wife Janet. Also survived by five grandchildren Dan Jr, Joseph, Michael, Nicholas, Dylan. His two sisters Lillian Perlman, Henny Wasserman, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 4:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, 12 Noon at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park.
