Obituary of Howard Joseph Baker

Howard J. Baker, 86, of Basking Ridge, NJ, and Greenacres, FL, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Hunterdon Medical Center. He recently celebrated 65 years of marriage to Ida Mae (Bullock) Baker. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Howard F. and Gertrude Baker. After serving in the Navy during World War II for 3 years, Howard graduated from Columbia University, with a degree in Civil Engineering. Howard was a former resident of Pelham, NY, and served three terms on the Board of Trustees. He held Professional Engineering licenses in three states, and worked as a Project Manager for the R.H. Macy Engineering Department for over 30 years. In addition to his wife Ida, Howard is survived by three children: Jane, wife of Alex Cibenko, Churchville, PA; Susan, wife of George Landgraf, Annandale, NJ; and Howard F. Baker II , husband of Shirley Guerin, Chester, NJ. Howard was the beloved grandfather of Jessica Cibenko Echelmeier, Valerie Cibenko Rajnic, Alexander Cibenko, John Cibenko, Alison Landgraf Fitzgerald, Natalie Landgraf, Julie Landgraf, Melissa Baker, Susan Baker Senning, Carolyn Baker, Howard F. Baker III, and Michael Baker. He was also the loving great-grandfather of Cassie, Carlin, and Eden Echelmeier, and Janie and Justin Rajnic. A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012, from 2-5 pm, at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 27, 2012, at 11am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 140 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920, with the Reverend Philip Carr-Jones officiating. Private interment will be at Cooks Falls Cemetery, Cooks Falls, NY at a later date.
