Obituary of Joseph M. Bonanno

Joseph M. Bonanno, 66, passed away on January 25, 2012. He was born in Kearny, NJ and spent the last 26 years living in Bernardsville, NJ with his wife and family. Joseph was a proud graduate of Rutgers University and completed post-baccalaureate work at the Wharton School of Business. After a long career in the brokerage business, he retired from Merrill Lynch as the Senior Vice President for the Private Client Group. Joseph was also committed to the community and many charitable organizations. He was an early advocate for the children with disabilities and served as the President for the Rehabilitation Center in Morris Plains. He was part of the Chamber of Commerce at the Meadowlands and also contributed to the Neighborhood House for Italian immigrants in Morristown. In addition, he created an annual scholarship at Rutgers University to support Italian-American college students. His success in life and business can be seen through his devotion to family and friends and the many lives he touched along the way. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce; son Leonard Bonanno; son Marc Bonanno and his wife Megan; daughter Jill Novotny and her husband Gregg; and son Nicholas Bonanno. He also leaves four grandchildren, Bianca and Kathleen Bonanno, and Michael and Alec Novotny. He will be missed dearly by his many cherished friends, as well as his beloved puppies Ralph and Mya. A liturgy of Christina burial will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 111 Claremont Rd., Bernardsville, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, NJ on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm.
