Obituary of Rose Watts

Rose H. Watts (November 15, 1923-November 30,2011) Rose Alice Humke Watts, long time resident of Millington, NJ, passed away on November so" at Morristown Medical Center at the age of 88. A service will be held at The Presbyterian Church, 1 East Oak Street, Basking Ridge, on Friday, December 9th at 2 PM. Rose was born in Newburgh, Indiana. She attended Manchester College and Indiana University, graduating from Butler University in 1947. At Butler, she was Vice- President of her senior class and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Rose married William O. Watts in 1947 and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this past June. After marrying, they lived in Carmel, Indiana until 1962, when they moved to Millington, NJ. In 1967, Rose established an interior design firm in collaboration with an antique business titled, "Watts of Millington". Rose was a founding member of Friends of Long Hill Township. She was an active member of The Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge, holding numerous positions including Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder and Trustee. Rose was a Trustee in the Long Hill Township Historical Society and was a Literacy Volunteer. Rose loved music and played the cello, organ, piano, and sang. For many years she gave complimentary piano lessons to neighborhood children in her home. Rose is survived by her loving husband Bill. She and Bill had an extraordinary life together, working as partners in their antique business and traveling internationally. Rose frequently accompanied Bill on his Johnson and Johnson business trips and was able to visit 44 countries. Rose was predeceased by her daughter Linn in 2000. She is survived by her two daughters, Jane Watts Frank (Dr. Eugene Frank), of Medford Lakes, NJ and Sarah Watts of Brattleboro, VT. She has 5 grandchildren, Julia Frank, Janelle Frank, Gabrielle Frank, Jonathan Lohse, and Andrew Lohse.
