Obituary of Ljuba Nikiforov
Ljuba Nikiforov, 89, passed away on Thursday November 10, 2011 at the Pine Acres Nursing Home, Madison, NJ.
Daughter of Ivan and Franciska Pahor, she was born on January 20, 1922 in Slovenia, Maribor.
Ljuba went to business school in Ljubljana, Slovenia during WWII.
She met her future husband Ilja Nikiforov in Vienna Austria in 1943. They immigrated to the USA in 1948 and were married for 24 years until Ilja's death.
Ljuba is survived by her children Vera and Andrey and three grandchildren Alexandr Young, Kristina Montgomery, and Kaitlin Nikiforov, daughter in law Michelle and son in law Bill Connors.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and sisters Draga Steinbach, of Chile, and Nada Knez, of Italy.
Ljuba lived independently, productively and was a wonderful homemaker, excellent cook and baker. Ljuba lived and enjoyed her last 18 years at Ridge Oak, Basking Ridge, where she was very active in the community and loved her dear friends. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held on Monday November 14, 2011 at the Convent Novo-Diveyevo Russian Orthodox church, 100 Smith Road. Nanuet, NY at 11:00A.M., followed by burial in the Convent Novo-Diveyevo Russian Orthodox cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday November 13, 2011 from 2-4pm at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ.
