Obituary of James J Fisher
JAMES J. FISHER, 82, died peacefully on October 12. Jim grew up in Bergen County and met his wife-to-be, Grace, in grammar school. He attended St Peter's Prep in Jersey City, graduated with great pride from Notre Dame, and earned a masters degree in chemistry from Holy Cross. Jim spent his career at American Cyanamid (which later became part of Pfizer), where he rose from bench chemist to a series of management roles. Jim and Grace relocated many times during that period, and lived in Cheshire, Connecticut; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Wyckoff, New Jersey before settling in Basking Ridge in 1974. In his retirement, Jim dealt with an array of health challenges with magnificent dignity and good humor. His faith inspired him in all aspects of his life. In addition to his love of his family, friends and church, Jim's other passion was Notre Dame; the university had no greater fan. Jim's beloved wife Grace passed away in 2010. He is survived by his children, Kathleen Fisher and her husband, Rocco Maggiotto, James Fisher and his wife Kristina Chew, and Janet Feeley and her husband Michael Feeley; by his grandchildren, Brian Maggiotto, Claire Maggiotto, Declan Feeley, Brogan Feeley, and Charles Fisher; and by brother Robert Fisher and his wife Ellen and by sister Marjorie Hausmann and her husband Paul. Jim will be greatly missed, for so many reasons, by all.
