Shirley H. (Mitchell) Tengi passed away quietly in her residence at Bear Creek Assisted Living, West Winsor, N.J. on January 8, 2018. She was born on August 1, 1927 in Rahway, N. J., the oldest of four children of parents Edmund and Winifred Mitchell. As a young women Shirley began working in NYC behind the scenes at CBS Studios. She took a hiatus from the work force to raise her family. She re-entered the business world with a passion to learn about real estate. Shirley began her new career as a Relocation Consultant at Richard C. Fisher Real Estate. She studied with enthusiasm and became a licensed Realtor. Shirley worked hard and excelled at her profession and eventually earned recognition in the elite "Million Dollar Club" at Turpin Realty in the 1990's.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Frank R. Tengi, her parents and siblings: brother Edmund J. Mitchell and sister Doris "Jane" Hansen. She is survived by her sister Betty Ann Mitchell Gibson of Arizona, sister-in-law Violet Mitchell of N.J., her two children: Christopher J. Tengi (Randee), Nancie E. Saphara (William), and three grandchildren: Ryan M. Tengi (Amanda), Eric D. Tengi (Kimberley) and Mark A. Tengi.
There will be a private family gathering to celebrate Shirley's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
