Obituary of Donald Wadsworth
DONALD JAMES WADSWORTH
Longtime resident of Basking Ridge Donald James Wadsworth passed away peacefully at his home in the evening of New Year's Day after coping with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). He was the son of Dr. James Wadsworth and Mrs. Hazel Wadsworth in Lincoln Nebraska. Donald is survived by his wife of 54 and half years Jean Wadsworth, a daughter Betsy Wadsworth, a son David Wadsworth. He has two grandchildren Christian and Gisele.
Donald graduated from the University of Washington, magna cum laude, with a BS in Electrical Engineering, where he was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He then received his MS in Electrical Engineering from NYU. He was recruited by Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill and worked in the telecommunications field in Illinois and New Jersey before he retired after 43 years.
In his spare time, he was very active in The Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge, having served as a Deacon and an Elder. At the time of his death he was the Assistant Clerk of the Session, member of the Personnel Committee and member of the 300th Anniversary Committee for the church. Donald also sang in the church choir for many years. Donald served the community of Bernards Township as a member of the pool commission for almost 30 years before he resigned last February.
Donald loved traveling, photography, trains, but he loved his family the most.
Memorial Service will be held at The Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11 am. It will be followed by a reception in Westminster Hall at the church. For further information, or to light an online condolence candle please visit www.gcfuneralhome.com
